What to Do This Weekend Near Avalia: Hike the Yamato Scrub Natural Area

Just in time for slightly cooler Palm Beach weather, the Yamato Scrub Natural Area has reopened in accordance with Florida’s adherence to CDC guidelines. Just mask up, and remember your social distancing rules to take in this gorgeous nearby habitat for biking, hiking, or simply somewhere new to get a breath of fresh air. The Yamato Scrub Natural Area is a modern marvel, with the rare plant covering about 60% of the total 217-acre area. The area is easy to access from Avalia, and is just a short 15-20 minute drive up I95.

Utilize the Yamato Scrub Natural Area for the 2.8-mile, sandy SkyBlue Lupine hiking trail or the easier, paved Cicada nature trail. The El Rio trail is adjacent to Yamato Scrub to allow for biking (riding is not allowed inside the nature area). For all of the area’s features, including info on where to park, visit the website before your visit.
