Take a Tour of the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center

Have you switched to reusable metal or bamboo straws to save the turtles? Do you snip any and all six-pack rings to protect the wildlife? Is your refillable tumbler always ready for a Starbucks run? If you’re an eco-conscious Boca resident, you can amp up your efforts by supporting Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, an organization working to rehabilitate sea turtles, protect and release hatchlings, and educate the public on marine conservation.

Much of the Nature Center, a longtime local favorite, is temporarily closed due to COVID-19, but it’s offering plenty to compensate. For example, Gumbo Limbo is happy to welcome you to their Boardwalk, with a half-mile walk through the Coastal Hammock Forest. If you’d prefer to save the turtles from home for the time being, Gumbo Limbo has plenty to offer online, too. Head to their website for virtual tours of their butterfly garden, hammock forest, and aquariums, or browse their online store for a shirt that will showcase your shelled support.

Anyone with a passion for environmental protection and conservation will love Gumbo Limbo Nature Center, its work, and its offerings both online and in-person. By supporting their cause, you’ll know you’re helping make a difference.
